Pennies from Heaven: The Knights have sent $303 to Pennies from Heaven, which was the amount in the glass jar. They would like to thank the parishioners for their help with this year`s campaign and hope that next year will be just as successful.

 

We would like to thank all the liturgical ministers (Communion ministers, lectors, commentators, ushers, gift bearers, altar servers, music ministry, decoration team, collection counters, cleaners) and all the volunteers and ministers who have helped us during the Christmas season. May God bless your talents and all the hard work you put into making this Christmas season special for all of us.

Welcome to the faith community Jaxon Maciejewski, son to Jason and Dallas. He was baptized in our parish Saturday, December 10th.

The Holy Childhood Association would like to thank the parishioners for their faithful support. Our support makes a significant difference to the material and spiritual lives of many children
throughout the world. Our parish donation to date for 2011 is $410.75. 

BAKING PANS that were donated for the baking of the Fruitcakes can be picked up in the coffee area closet.

HELP NEEDED for Parish Hall Cleaning: The Parish is looking for volunteers to clean the Parish Hall. To date, nine parishioners have signed up. If enough parishioners sign up the commitment could possibly be 1 month out of a year that you would be on the list for cleaning. If you were assigned a month and were
unable to clean one day there would be others that could do it for you. If you can help the parish out please call the office.

BACK TO THE LORD: Mildred Vrskovy who passed away. May God grant her eternal peace. Our deepest sympathy to her family. The Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 11:00 a.m.

The Homemade Christmas Fruitcakes are ready for pickup following Mass on Sunday, Nov-27. The deadline is Tuesday, November 15th. The approximate cost will be $20.00. Parishioners are encouraged to support this Fundraiser. The order sheet is on the round table at the back. They are now ready for pickup
 

Copies of the “Implementation Directives for the Diocese of Calgary, According to the General Instruction to the Roman Missal, 2011” have been made available for parishioners on the round table at the back. The purpose of the document is to call attention to the paragraphs in the General Instruction on the Roman Missal that require a change of practice for some if not all our parishes and to present the decisions Bishop Henry has made.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION SUNDAY: The parish collected $233.00 for Catholic Education Sunday last weekend. We thank everyone for their support.

THE BOOK OF LIFE: During the month of November “The Book of Life” will be present at every celebration of the Eucharist so we can remember in prayer all of our loved ones who have died. This Same Book of Life stays in our parish year after year. Parishioners DO NOT have to write down the same names of deceased relatives and friends every year. Please write any new names of deceased in the book.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Look kindly on your departed Veterans who gave their lives in the Service of their country. I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen. 

Thank you for your generous support of World Mission Sunday last week. Your prayers and donations will make a huge contribution to the growth of the Church and to the well-being of the poor of our world. Please continue to pray for all those who serve in mission countries. To date $416.00 has been donated by our parish.

CWL INFORMATION: All CWL members are asked to please pick up their Newsletters from the round table at the back. There is also a sign-up sheet for the CWL Christmas Social on the table. All ladies of the parish are invited.

Congratulations to Renso, our Deacon candidate who will be receiving the ministry of Acolyte next Saturday, October 29th in Calgary. Continue to pray for Bonnie and Renso. 
 
A HUGE THANKS to the Knights of Columbus who generously donated $900.00 to the parish. Also thank you for putting on another delicious breakfast last weekend.

BIG THANKS: To Carol Hubbard for volunteering her time in cleaning the church and the hall for several years. All of your time was greatly appreciated.

MANY THANKS: to the CWL for purchasing Pew Cards on the “Revised Order of the Mass” for the parish. Starting this Tuesday we will be begin using them at all weekday Masses.

Congratulations to Mike & Sue Amatto on their 50th Wedding Anniversary! May the next 50 years be as good as your first 50 years bringing you health, happiness and your continuing love. Many blessings!

GARAGE SALE/BAKE SALE: The parish would like to thank everyone who contributed to and worked at the Garage Sale and the Bake Sale. Your continued support to the parish is greatly appreciated. We raised $1,789.52 from the Garage Sale; $866.00 from the Bake Sale and $120.00 from the Door Prize Raffle. The total of $2,775.52 which has been put into the parish Operating Fund. Also, the winner of the Afghanistan Bed Cover (donated by Marc Olchowy) was won by Carole MacDonald. 

BIG THANKS to the CWL for their donation of $1,150.00 (gift cabinet profits) to the parish Operating Fund. 

A Legacy of Hope: Copies of a pastoral message from the Bishops of Alberta in appreciation to the religious Sisters are available on the round table at the back for anyone interested. Please help yourself. 


 
SCRIPTURE STUDY: If you are interested, please consider joining the group. They meet Tuesdays from 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the church

If anyone would like a visit or to receive communion while in the hospital please remember to register as a Catholic at the from desk when admitting or call the parish office.

AFRICAN RELIEF: The parish would like to thank everyone who donated to the African Relief Fund. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Our parish collected $2,138.25. These donations have been sent to the Diocese and will be forwarded on.

AFRICAN RELIEF: The worse drought to impact the Horn of Africa has put approximately 10 million people at risk of severe food shortage and famine. As per the Bishop Henry’s request
all parishes within the Diocese of Calgary will be taking up a special collection for the next couple of weekends. Individuals wishing to make a financial donation can make cheques payable to the Parish, earmarked “D & P African Relief” (tax receipts will be issued in January). Envelopes have been provided in the pews and on the rounds table at the back.

LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA CD’S:
The parish has received some new CD’s and restocked some of the ones we sold out of previously.  Please stop by the CD stand which is located at the back behind the round table to have a look at the selection.


BACK TO THE LORD: Amelia Hruby who passed away this week. The Prayers will be held on Monday, July 11th at 7:00 p.m. at the church and the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. May her soul rest in peace. Our deepest sympathy to her family.

The parish would like to thank Father Nathan Siray for celebrating Mass with us this weekend. Our prayers will be with you Father Nathan.

I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone for making my ordination anniversary a wonderful celebration. It was indeed a blessing for me. And also, it was an honour and delight to see many of you
present, to receive many generous gifts, and to have more than plenty of delicious dishes. I should say that everything was excellent.

LITURGY SCHEDULES: During July and August the parish will not prepare Liturgy Schedules because of many people away during the summer. However, there will be a sign-up book positioned near the entrance to the church. Please sign up for one of the ministries. This will also include the Altar Servers. Thank you for
your cooperation.

PARISH BULLETINS: There will be no parish bulletins printed during the summer months. The Mass Intentions and weekday Mass times will be posted on the bulletin boards in the church. There will also be some Mass schedules available in the slots by the main door of the church.

NOTE: There will be no Holy Hour for July and August. It will resume in September.

SUMMER HOURS FOR PARISH OFFICE: The parish office hours for the summer will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. beginning the week of July 4th.

WEDNESDAY ROSARY: During July and August the church will be open on Wednesday’s at 11:50 a.m. for anyone who would like to come and pray the rosary.

WEEKLY DONATIONS: Parishioners are reminded that during the summer months and being away on holidays you have the option of setting up automatic withdrawals with the Royal Bank or dropping off post-dated cheques to the parish office.

For Hall Rental inquires please call the Parish Office at (403) 562-2103 during office hours. Our hall is great for wedding receptions, family reunions, birthday parties and much more.

REMINDER! CATECHISM SURVEY FORMS: Just over a month ago the Parish mailed out Catechism Survey Forms to all parents to give them the opportunity to have some input on days and times that the program is held. To date we have only received three forms back. If you have misplaced the form please call the parish office for another one. The parish would like the parents to please return the completed forms as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.

CAMP COLUMBUS 2011: The youth camp is nestled in beautiful Waterton Lakes National Park, and is open to all boys and girls aged
8 to 14 regardless of religious denomination. There are registration forms and brochures available on the round table at the back.

A BIG THANK YOU:  The Parish would like to thank all those who contributed to, worked at, and  attended the  Strawberry Tea. Thank you to Carol  and Joyce for organizing this fundraising event. A  total of $1,500.00 was raised for our parish. The  winner of the 50/50 draw ($102.00) was Audrey  Civitarese. Congratulations to Lorin Hansen, Paige McNeil and Bria Michalski on receiving their Sacrament of First Communion last Sunday.

TEAM (Together Enabling Adults for Ministry) is a ministry of the FCJ Christian Life Centre in
collaboration with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary. The program meets the challenge of
ChristwhocallsallofustoshareinHismission wherever we are and in whatever we do. There are brochures
with more information on the table near the front entrance of the church.

CONGRATULATIONS to the two children of our parish (AidenDouglas and Elena Tkachuk) who
received their Sacrament of Reconciliation on April 6th. Thank you to Lesley Margetak for
making the lovely cake for the children.

CONGRATULATIONS: to the youth of our parish and from St. Michael’s parish,Pincher Creek who
were confirmed on Friday, April 15th by Bishop Frederick Henry. Kyle Farano, Andee Groat,

Prayers requested: Renso Castellarin has been in the Diocesan Diaconate Program.  He has received the
Ministry of Lector from Bishop Henry on Saturday in Calgary.  Please remember Renso in your prayers.  Congratulations!

THANK YOU: The paris hreceived a $216.00 donation to our operating fund from the “United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta, Donor Choice Program.”

MISSION MEXICO has acknowledged receipt of ourdonation of $377.72 during 2010. They thank us for helping to make adifference in the lives of the poor in Mexico.

THANKS YOU’S: The parish would like to thank all the people who organized, worked at, donated to, and attending the Sweetheart Spaghetti Supper last Sunday. $1,028.00 was raised at the supper and this money will go towards the parish building fund. Thank you to everyone for your continued support with our parish fundraisers.

THANK YOU: The parish would like to thank Milo Marcial for hanging the First Aid Kit and the Defibrillator which the Knights donated to the parish, thank you to the Knights also. They have been hung on the wall across from the Sacristy door.

PARISH INCOME TAX RECEIPTS: The 2010 Parish Income Tax Receipts will be available for pick up next weekend from the round table at the back.

COMMUNION FOR THE SICK: If someone is sick and unable to attend to Mass and would like to receive Communion please call the parish office. Or if you know of someone in the hospital that would like a visit please let us know.

Let us remember to pray for religious freedom in the world, may leaders see religious freedom as an important step towards building human development and peace in society.

THANK YOU NOTE: The parish received a thank you note from the Diocese of Calgary for our efforts and hard work in reaching our 2010 target for the Together In Action Campaign to support the less fortunate.

MONTHLY CALENDAR: Please note that every month a calendar will be posted on the bulletin board near the coffee area at the back. All the meetings and gatherings, etc. that take place in the church foyer and meeting rooms will be marked down. Exception will be hall rentals which need to be booked through the parish office. This calendar will hopefully help out any committees and groups wanting to schedule meetings or gatherings.

PARISH VOLUNTEER SCREENING COORDINATOR: The Diocese is implementing a program which assures that each parish appoints a volunteer to be a Screening Coordinator. This person will be in charge of screening employees and volunteer who work for the parish. Training would be given by the Diocese. If anyone is interested please call the parish office.

LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA CD’S: Last weekend we introduced an exciting new Evangelization opportunity here at our parish called Lighthouse Catholic Media. At the back of the church, behind the round table on the wall, is a beautiful wooden display case that holds 9 different titles of CD’s. The CD’s are audio recordings of inspiring talks on various topics of Catholic life to help build up your  faith in God and give inspiration in your life. You will hear the best speakers in the world, people such as Dr. Scott Hahn, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Blessed Mother Teresa, Fr. John Corapi, and many more. The cost is $5.00 eachCD or 5 for $20.00.
